Genioplasty (or chin surgery) reshapes the chin either by increasing or decreasing its size, harmonizing it with the other facial features.

In cases of a large chin, correction is performed with jaw surgery, while in cases of a small – hypoplastic – chin, either with the use of special implants or with fat injection taken from the patient themselves. The type of anesthesia and the duration of the surgery depend on the technique chosen, says Plastic Surgeon Aris Damagas. Recovery can thus last from a few days to 2-3 weeks.

In many cases, genioplasty is combined with rhinoplasty, offering dramatic improvement in the overall appearance of the face and resulting in more attractive facial proportions.
