Immediate Breast Reconstruction After Bilateral Mastectomy

Mastectomy and Breast Reconstruction in a Single Procedure

An immediate breast reconstruction following bilateral mastectomy with reduction of the skin envelope and preservation of the nipples, with blood supply based on inferior and medial dermal flaps, was performed on a patient with invasive ductal carcinoma in both breasts at the 251 General Air Force Hospital.

The reconstruction was performed in the same surgical session, using implants covered with mesh in a pre-pectoral placement, resulting in a more natural, almost painless outcome with no significant side effects.

The surgery was conducted by plastic surgeon Aris Damagas and breast surgeon Apostolos Mitrousias and was published in the journal of the Hellenic Society of Breast Surgery, TA NEA TIS EXEM, issue 25, pages 22-25.
