Lipolysis for the Treatment of Localized Fat
Lipolysis is a treatment designed to address small aesthetic concerns by targeting areas of localized fat. By injecting a solution containing substances such as phosphatidylcholine, carnitine, and others into the fatty areas, the fat cells are broken down and subsequently eliminated through the body’s natural processes, primarily via urination.
Even with regular exercise and a healthy diet, certain areas tend to accumulate fat that is resistant and persistent. Combatting this localized fat buildup in specific body areas can be effectively achieved through non-invasive, injectable treatments. These treatments involve injecting specialized lipolytic substances that work directly on fat cells, encouraging them to dissolve and be expelled through the body’s metabolic pathway. Lipolysis is successfully applied to areas such as the abdomen and flanks, the inner and outer thighs, the buttocks, and even the area above the knees.
The procedure is painless during application, though mild discomfort may be experienced for a few days afterward. It is important to carefully control the amount of solution used in injectable lipolysis. Therefore, the procedure should always be performed by an experienced plastic surgeon to ensure the safety of the patient. Typically, 2-3 sessions are necessary to achieve optimal aesthetic results and eliminate unwanted localized fat. However, for areas with more extensive fat accumulation, a more invasive approach, such as liposuction, may be recommended.
