Liposculpture: Flawless Body with Curves
Liposculpture enhances the body’s contour by removing excess fat from specific areas using very thin tubes under negative pressure. Its goal is to address imperfections and beautify many parts of the body simultaneously.
What is the Difference Between Liposculpture and Liposuction?
Liposuction is performed when we want to remove a significant amount of unwanted fat that resists diet and exercise from various parts of the body. Liposculpture, on the other hand, is a more “refined” type of liposuction, where the removed fat is used in other or neighboring parts of the body to optimize curves (e.g., the buttocks, hips, calves, etc.). During the procedure, the plastic surgeon, paying attention to details and treating the body as a whole, reshapes it by removing fat and simultaneously injecting it into other areas that need “filling” to enhance them. This involves transferring fat from one part of the body, where there is an excess, to another part, where there is a deficit. Thus, liposculpture promotes an overall improved image and a more attractive body contour.
This technique, with the mechanical removal of fat and its use elsewhere, has advantages over other techniques such as laser liposuction, because the fat in this case is preserved and not destroyed.
Procedure
Liposculpture takes 1-2 hours and can be performed under general, local, or epidural anesthesia. Discharge is usually given on the same day (day hospitalization). Recovery depends on the extent of the surgery but usually does not exceed one week, after which you can return to work. The cost is proportional to the extent of the problem and the anesthesia chosen.
Since body shape and contour can be affected by weight gain, possible pregnancies, aging, heredity, and lifestyle-related factors, adopting healthy habits and maintaining stable weight is crucial for preserving the results of liposculpture.
Liposculpture FAQs
Can liposculpture improve the problem of cellulite?
Cellulite is an issue that troubles most women and is caused by many factors. It appears as either an orange peel texture or small bumps (excess fat) or small depressions (atrophy). Liposculpture, without addressing the root cause of the problem, can significantly improve its appearance by removing or adding the necessary fat and detaching the adhered skin that creates the orange peel look.
How much fat can be removed during the procedure?
We have repeatedly stated that liposculpture is not a slimming surgery but a body contouring procedure. Therefore, the issue is how much fat is allowed to be removed to achieve the desired result. Removing a large amount of fat from one area of the body can cause the overlying skin to lose support, leading to sagging or wrinkling. However, there are areas where we can be more aggressive, such as the sides of the abdomen or the hip area because the skin there has good adherence to the underlying tissues, and other areas, like the inner thighs, where the risk of sagging is much higher. Ultimately, it is important to emphasize that liposculpture, as a medical procedure, should always be performed based on the candidate’s medical data, with a primary focus on absolute safety combined with good results.
Is there a risk that the areas from which fat is removed will develop problems in the future if I gain weight?
If weight fluctuations remain within normal limits (plus or minus 5 kilograms), the deformities corrected by liposuction will not recur. However, if we gain an excessive amount of weight, the result becomes unpredictable.
What does liposculpture offer to the face?
On the one hand, we can remove small persistent bulges through minor liposuction, and on the other hand, we can inject fat into other areas to better shape them, such as the cheekbones, nasolabial folds, lips, eyelids, jawline, and neck.
Is liposculpture sufficient on its own to improve my body contour? What can I do to enhance the surgery’s results?
Since liposculpture mainly targets healthy and slim individuals, exercise and proper dietary habits can maximize the results. In more challenging cases where the aesthetic outcome from liposculpture is not absolute, due to significant laxity or obesity, there are techniques that can help. For minor issues, needling or nano fat grafting can work synergistically with liposculpture, rejuvenating the skin from the inside out. These non-invasive techniques can help not only enhance but also maintain the results of liposculpture. If the problem is much larger, liposculpture should be combined with surgeries like abdominoplasty, lower body lift, or breast lift.
